Hannah: Week 4
This week as you finish up your Hannah walking challenge, we’ve got some more “tunes” to go along with your walk! Remember how last month we learned that Abigail was a type and shadow of Christ? This final post for Hannah is about how she is a type of Mary, and that Hannah’s song was fulfilled in Mary’s Magnificat.Let’s compare Hannah’s psalm of thanksgiving (1 Samuel 2:1-10) to Mary’s Magnificat (Luke 1:46-55). Both songs:
Celebrate God’s exaltation of the humble and bringing down of the proud Exclaim how God will raise up the poor and fill those who are hungry Conclude with God’s ultimate deliverance“He will give strength to his king and exalt the horn of his anointed” (1 Sam. 2:10). Some scholars think that Hannah’s prayer looks beyond David and finds its fulfillment in Jesus, who will redeem all humanity.
